Peer Training Modules

The following is a list of trainings provided by our agency. Housing Options is continually working to improve our education services with regard to mental health and wellness.  We strive to offer the best advocacy training in New York State.  Our trainings are constantly updated and improved to keep abreast with the need of the community we serve. 

Based on need, resources, and availability stipends are sometimes available to help defray the cost of attending.  We will try to help with transportation issues.  Often car pools are set up before our training begin.  Please contact the Training Coordinator is you need assistance. 


Peer Advocacy Training

Our Peer Advocacy training is a comprehensive two week training focusing on skills for enhancing success in peer advocacy.  This is done in a wholesome environment and new friendships are often developed as a result of taking our courses.   We hope that you will learn new skills but also have some fun while participating in our class. At the end of the training you will will receive a certificate to show you have completed the course.  Our training is widely accepted within the community and acknowledged by numerous agencies within the state.

Housing Options Made Easy, Inc. Peer Advocacy Training includes but is not limited to the following topics:

  • What is the role of the peer advocate?

  • Understanding the importance of healthy boundaries

  • Values

  • Respect and Cultural diversity

  • Time management

  • Self Esteem building

  • Housing Rights and Responsibilities

  • Systems Advocacy

  • Ethics in the workplace

Based on availability, Housing Options cooperated with other agencies.  We have presentations from professionals and successful advocates participate in our trainings.
